Try these fun baby shower games when you are planning a party for the mother-to-be.
Baby showers are meant to honor the mother-to-be and "shower" her with gifts for her new baby. Traditionally, light snacks are served, gifts are opened and the host will plan several games. When you plan baby shower games, a great idea is to give out prizes that are specifically for the new mom and her baby and announce to guests that they should be given to her at the end of the party. Here are some easy baby shower games that your guests will enjoy.
As guests arrive, announce that "baby" is the buzz word of the day. Give each guest several baby themed stickers (they all need the same amount). Any time they hear someone say the buzz word, they can take a sticker from that person. The person with the most stickers at the end of the party wins.
Although most moms do not hang their laundry out on the line anymore, you can still play this fun game. Clip clothespins on the bottom of a clothes hanger. Have each person see how many clothespins he or she can take off and hold in one hand. The person that gets the most will be the winner.
Moms-to-be are used to people looking at the belly during pregnancy. In this game, the guests will try to guess just how big her belly is. Pass around a ball of yarn and a pair of scissors. Have each guest cut off the amount they think represents the size of her belly at the biggest part. Have the new mom stand up and have guests measure how close they have come. The guest that cut off the right amount (or closest to the right length) will win.
This is a classic baby shower game. Purchase several jars of baby food and remove the labels. Write a number on each jar. Pass the opened jars around the room and have the guests write down what they think is in the jars by smelling the baby food. When everyone is done, see who got the most correct.
Divide the guests into two or three teams. Have two people on each team hold up a clothes line and have someone else hold a baby doll and a cell phone (or cordless phone) and see how fast they can hang a basket of clothes on the line. Whichever team finishes the task first will win.
Have each guest diaper a baby doll using only one hand. If this is a co-ed shower, pair the guys and the gals up together. You can make this even harder by using cloth diapers and large diaper pins instead of disposable diapers.
Enjoy planning a great baby shower for your friend or relative. Keep the party upbeat with a few of the games mentioned above. Don't forget to check out Suite101's suggestions for shower gifts as well.
