Simplify Baby Wearing

For a novice sling user, it helps to have something that is not overly complicated. Many of the slings available require detailed wearing instructions and if worn incorrectly may cause a baby to fall while being carried in the swing. The Hotsling has a simple pouch design that does not require detailed wrapping instructions or complicated latches. One easy fold creates a secure pouch that will cradle your infant gently against your body.

It is easy to convert the Hotsling into a carrier for an older infant or toddler. The Hotsling can be used as a basic hip holder for your toddler. Many parents consider using slings for their infants but toddlers often enjoy the closeness just as much as a younger baby does.

Hotsling offers an instructional DVD if you need more detailed instructions than the illustrated directions provide. The Hotsling website offers several videos that demonstrate the correct way to wear your infant using the Hotsling.

A Comfortable Choice for Baby

Unlike traditional front infant carriers, the Hotsling allows your infant to lay in a natural position that will provide them with the most comfort. The cradle hold gives your baby the freedom to lay the same way they would when being held in your arms. Your infant’s arms and legs can stay loose so they can wiggle as they feel the need to. The Hotsling keeps your infant close to your body and creates a security that you cannot get by using other comfort measures such as swings or bouncy seats.

The Hotsling is designed to spread your infant’s weight over one of your shoulders. You can adjust where the Hotsling lies on your shoulder in order to find a comfortable position. The wide area that lies across your shoulder makes it more comfortable to wear than many other carriers but the single shoulder design may make your upper back ache after wearing the sling for an extended period of time.

Freedom of Movement

The Hotsling allows you to keep your hands free while keeping your infant close to you. A sling is an excellent alternative to using a stroller and allows you to continue using a single stroller rather than purchasing a double stroller for two children. Nursing in the Hotsling is relatively easy using the cradle hold and gives you some additional privacy.

While the Hotslingkeeps your infant very secure while you are walking, any bending requires you to hold your infant close to your body to prevent him from falling out.

Sizing

Because the Hotsling is not adjustable, it is important that you get the correct size. If the sling is too small it will be difficult to get your baby in the pouch and feel tight as you wear it. If the sling is too loose your infant will not be as secure. If you are unsure of the correct sizing, lean towards a larger size rather than a smaller one. Your infant will grow and be more comfortable with a bit more space over time.

One of the downsides of the Hotsling is that you can not pass off the baby wearing to dad. Most dads are not comfortable wearing a sling because of the general design in the first place, but without the ability to adjust the sling you would need to purchase a second sling in a different size.
