The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan is a new take on the problem of teaching babies to go to sleep on their own. It is the perfect solution for parents that think the Cry-it-Out method is too harsh, but that co-sleeping does not foster enough independence.

The premise of the plan is that there is a period of time in which a baby is at the optimal developmental stage for learning how to sleep on his own. Dr. Tobin refers to this stage as the Window of Opportunity (or WOO). She teaches parents to create "feel good" bedtimes during this WOO and offers ways to comfort babies who are crying. The end result? The book maintains that by following The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan, you can turn any baby into a great sleeper in seven days or less!

This book is ideal for parents whose babies are six weeks to nine months of age, which is the approximate Window of Opportunity. However, Dr. Tobin also offers advice for parents of babies who are older than nine months and still need help getting to sleep.

Though my son is able to go to sleep on his own, he often wakes up in the night wanting to eat. I implemented some of Dr. Tobin's suggestions and in just a few days, my son stopped waking up in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I was impressed.

There are so many extreme "solutions" out there on the subject of babies and sleep. It is refreshing, therefore, to find one that is flexible enough for most parents to use comfortably.

I recommend The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan to anyone looking for help getting their baby to sleep.
