Controlling Eczema in infants and toddlers can be a work of trial and error but there are several basic tips that work for most children.

Both of my children were blessed with severe eczema from birth. As a new mother I had never heard of eczema but I had to learn fast to keep my children comfortable. Luckily eczema does tend to improve as toddlers grow but in the beginning it can be a struggle to learn what works for your infants or toddlers skin.

Different things have worked for each of my children. Part of dealing with eczema is trial and error, although there are several basic tips that seem to work for most children. Moisture is essential. I saw a major difference in my children when they were not covered with perfume free moisturizing cream twice a day.

Laundry detergent can also irritate sensitive skin. Many detergents contain dyes or perfumes that stay with the clothes and can irritate infants and toddlers with sensitive skin. You do not have to purchase the expensive detergents designed for babies. There are many mainstream detergents that are dye free and perfume free.
