Quiet Toddler Story Time

A Toddler's Love of Books

A normally active toddler will sit quietly to read a story.

I have a very active toddler. It still amazes me that he will actually sit through an entire story without wiggling but he absolutely loves to read. He brings me books all day long and reaches up to be held. I think the phrase I hear most often throughout the day is "mama, book". The rest of the time he is running through my house at warp speed trying to find things he can get into. Reading calms him down. The most peaceful part of my day is right before bedtime, rocking him in the rocking chair and reading a story. This child, who doesn't usually have the patience to sit and be cuddled, will sit as long as I will read to him. I hope that the memories of peaceful bedtime stories will be the beginning of a lifelong love of reading that will help him to reach new heights in his life.
