As a parent, you are ultimately responsible for the quality of childcare that your infant or toddler receives. Interview providers thoroughly before choosing a daycare.

Many parents change their daycare situation around during the summer and fall. With a new school year starting many daycare providers seem to have more openings than other times throughout the year. It is hard to know what questions to ask when meeting a daycare provider for the first time. The first step, before interviewing any provider is to determine what needs are the most important to you and your child. Each daycare provider has their own strengths and weaknesses. Before meeting anyone you need to decide what qualities you really need in a daycare provider and what qualities may just be an added bonus.

You never need to feel guilty for changing daycare providers at any time during the year. You are ultimately responsible for the quality of care that your infant or toddler receives. If you are ever uncomfortable with the care that your child is receiving or want something more for your child it may be time to switch. Part of a good daycare relationship is keeping open communication lines between you and your daycare provider. If you communicate your needs and the problem cannot be solved it may be time to look for another care situation.
